Hello.

It's my first time posting here and I hope you can all help!

I drive a Volvo 850 GLT '97 wagen. There is quite a bit of rust near the rear of the exhaust and the holding bracket is completly rusted. I'm planning on replacing this and then cleaning up the rest myself. The problem is I don't know where to buy this holding bracket in Sweden. I was hoping you could help me.

If anyone could me find somewhere in Sweden, that would be great! Perhaps If I knew what it was called in Swedish then my search may be much easier.

Mmm, yeah, that part was quite rusty on my car as well. I know an exchange part is included with biltema's tow hook, but that part wouldnt be suitable without the tow hook to accompany it.

I presume a volvo dealer would be able to help you get the part you need, although I also suspect they will charge an arm and a leg for it...
Another option is of course a scrap yard.. Although finding one in good condition might be a chore...

Unfortunately Im not sure what that particular part is called in swedish either, but I'd assume something like "bakre avgasupphängning("rear exhaust mounting")" would suffice. Anyone familiar with the car model should be able to understand which part you mean with that name. Its not like theres a lot of mountings along the exhaust - especially not rear("bakre") ones

Do you have a Biltema store nearby? I got their new winter catalog yesterday, they have three new articles for repairing the exhaust system for Volvo 850/V70, dont exactly like your bracket, but maybe some of them can be modified to do the job?

Hi! It's the first one, in the links above. There are two sizes, just measure your exhaust diameter first and go buy it, it's cheap.

Mmm, I think you 2 have missed something... Its the bracket thats bolted to the chassi he needs to replace - not the one around the exhaust pipe.

It will cost me about 500kr - half of that is the shipping heh. Will probably wait until I figure out what else I need and order it all at once to make the shipping cost worthwhile.

Misunderstand me right! I say that you could modify one of this cheap parts to fit, should never pay 500kr for a exhaust bracket to a old car like that!
Buy for example the bracket in the picture below and use only one of the halfes, turn it up side down and if the old bolts are to rusty or the two holes center to center distance dont fit, leave the old bracket in Place and drill two new holes throught it (green circles) for the new bolts.

Thanks, P210, that may actually work. At the same time I've been thinking that if I remove the mount and just sandgun it, i may be able to get it looking like new. I've a feeling it looks worse than it really is. Just getting the bolts off without breaking will be the key heh
