Jag skulle vilja påstå att det är i en av boxarna, även om jag inte är helt säker!

GLT 96- är jag övertygad om att det lagras i huset iaf, eftersom dom har motronic4.4 precis som 20V x70 97-98. Vad jag har sett så finns det ingen parameter i mappen för vägmätarställningen.
Ytterligare en anledning till att jag är rätt säker på att 'ställningen lagras i huset är för att måste väcka upp 'husets dator för att kunna läsa mätarställningen(ECU 51 -- COMBI (Instrument Panel)).

Det kan säkert stämma, vet dock inte om detta även gäller de tidigare årsmodellerna.
Det intressanta är att den räknar mil trots att vägmätaren står still i "huset", i alla fall de tidigare!

Nja, det är inte så konstigt egentligen. Hastigheten(och således distansen) kommer ju in i huset, husets chip gör massa magi med signalen, sen skickar chippet ut signaler som bestämmer vart hastighetsmätaren ska peka, samt hur snabbt räknevärket ska ticka.
Räkneverket är ju mekaniskt, så det finns ju ingen feedback som säger åt chippet att drevet(eller liknande) är kasst och räknaren inte rör sig, utan chippet fortsätter att räkna på(och troligtvis lagra) mätarställningen och skickar gladligen ut signaler till räkneverket, trots att denne kanske stått still i 20år.
Därför kan man montera ett nytt hus i 850 utan att mätarställningen "ändras", eftersom man justerar räkneverket mekaniskt/manuellt, men i verkligheten så är mätarställningen något helt annat enl. instrumenthuset - precis som på x70.

Vad jag kunde se när jag lekte med mitt hus så har x70-husen inte heller någon feedback från displayen, trots att den är digital. Skillnaden där är att när man monterar/byter ut displayen så kommer displayen visa rätt mil, även om displayen varit borttagen/trasig i 18år, till skillnad mot mekaniska räkneverket som kan visa vad som helst.

Om man då jämför med 92-95 där hade man ju i så fall fått byta ut både hus (ja eller manuellt ändra) och box (eller var det nu lagras) för att man inte skulle kunna komma på att den är fifflad med!

Nej då, du förstod helt korrekt. Det är bara att byta hus så ändras även mätarställningen.
Det är som sagt inga nya bilar direkt, och 850(minst T5 -94, som hade motronic 4.3, tidigare ska jag inte svära på) var vad jag vet första volvobilen som började lagra ställningen digitalt, följt av 960 96-(som då fick M4.4 tillsammans med 850GLT), och sen x70 97-. x70 99- tror jag lagrar ställningen även i boxen, men jag är inte helt säker på det. Möjligt att det bara är P2 bilarna som började lagra i boxen också.

I have had under development now some months now Android App with ELM327 bluetooth for Volvo 850(and works on couple other ones too) which for now can retrieve kilometres from odometer (COMBI ECU as known better the unit) as do many other things too.. DTC codes reading and clearing no problem. Shows now DTC code info for most codes but not yet for all (80% done i would roughly say)

Reset / clear SERVICE light works.


I am just been opening Closed Beta tests for this and who wants join i could offer now a chance to give a feedback. If thread starter wants to test. Be my guest. But there is a but that App not to be put on internet without asking my permission for it. Coming soon on Play store.

The app is tried to keep as simple as possible for user.. but usage of app as wide as possible.

There is some bugs and unreliability but working on those..

I'm current looking into the possibility of integrating an arduino with M4.4, using either the KKL cable or an ELM. So far I've been unsuccessful though, as I cant send data at 5 baud.. At the moment I'm looking into doing it manually by setting the pins high/low with a timer, 'simulating' 5 baud. We'll see if it works or not.
I need to take the time and bring the laptop and a pot of coffee out to the car and play around, see if I can get any response from it

I am sorry for it.. but as i thought to keep adding things there which then can go too costly to keep going by itself just for open source.

Was looking then fund get some official testers and look how they reset example on newer Volvos as example some 2004 Volvo ABS light.


I hope i don't ask too much for it. It will include ways to use it as a terminal and look even how it goes through the commands so there isn't much of hiding of things and i am myself very open personal otherway.

I used already year to disassemble Ford Escort EEC-IV ECU's for people free to use and do what they want and even that chip too by restore it from bottom of internet which is now gone from internet as it was from year 98. I draw my line there that enough is enough.

Do you have ELM which is some cheap clone version? Try send ATAL command to it.. if it fails (responds just question mark "?") there is your problem.

It can't do even ELM327 V1.0 commands! It is garbage... maybe can do OBD-II 0100 or 0101 commands or so some standard emission diagnostic but nothing else.

Typical cheapest Chinese clones.. won't include even PIC chip (ELM).. but tries emulate it on some bluetooth controller in worst cases via some Chinese rewritten code...

Thanks for your concern, and while it IS a cheap chinese clone(4EUR through amazon.com, incl. shipping!), it is 'genuine' with a PIC, proper BT module, and responds 'as it should' with ATZ, ATAL etc etc.
The PCB also have designated locations for the FT232 chip and USB cable - pre-tinned and all. So its not hard to convert it at least :)
