Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum.

I just recently bought a Volvo 740 from 1988 and so far I'm very happy with the buy but inevitably there is some service to be done. Mainly the timing belt, water pump, belts etc, the basic engine maintenance.
I've asked for a quote from a shop - Bilia in Alvik - they ask 6000 SEK for this. How much should it be? Maybe I asked at a wrong place (they seem to be an authorized garage for Volvo). I've never owned a car in Sweden before so I have no reference. Can you recommend a place somewhere near Bromma? It seems like a lot of money for a rather basic service on a very simple engine (b230e). At a glance the parts should not cost much more than 1500 SEK.
I would gladly do the service myself but I don's have an access to any garage, perhaps there is something like a "self-service car repair" somewhere near Stockholm?

Thanks in advance for any advice.
