I hope somebody could help me out. I have s80 2007 model and while I was removing the glove compartment i found a cable hanging (on picture) ... does anyone know what this could be used for? I've looked around but couldn't find a compatible connector to attach it... also the radio (premium sound) doesn't work unless it's summer and really hot outside... I've took apart the radio panel and optical tx works... not sure about rx line. same I've checked under the passenger seat the radio box and only one is working. when i removed the glove compartment beside the cabin air filter there is a box (wrapped in foam) that i have no idea what it is, but it has a optical connection in and out (non of it worked) and right under the dashboard (passenger side) beside airbag there's a black box also with optical connection (one was blinking)

The spare connector is probably for (optional) valet lock sensor. Normally the connector is fixed to the top of glovebox.
(if "valet equipped", manually locking the glovebox also prevents access to the boot/trunk)

The optically (MOST) connected modules you found, are probably some of these: BPM (bluetooth Phone Module) , AUU (Accessory USB Unit) or PHM (Phone Module)
It's recommended to use a Volvo-adapted diagnose equipment to find "the missing link" in the MOST-network.
But if you are able to follow the MOST-diagram below, you might be lucky...
