Hej,
Det ena stålbandet som håller bränsletanken har rostat av och jag har lyckats skruva bort de gamla resterna samt skaffat ett nytt. Jag hakar på det nya i framänden och drar i fästbulten bulten några varv. Försöker sedan få hålet i bandets bakre ände över bulten som pekar snett nedåt i tankens bakände - går inte, fattas typ en centimeter!
Inlägg på brickboard säger att det är svårare på 740 än 940 och att det inte finns någon marginal att lyfta tanken. Istället har någon lyckats genom att lossa och sänka den konsol som fäster tankbanden mot karossen i bakändan (se nedan). Känns tveksamt då jag har typ 1/2-3/4 full tank och all belastning måste ligga på konsolen, dess rostiga bultar, och det sista bandet av osäker kondition, men kanske funkar om man stödjer under tanken med träkloss på en domkraft?
Är det någon som lyckats få dit tankbandet på annat sätt utan tillgång till lyft?
"I did bend the strap to fit the tank but that did not give enough clearance. The image of the rear end of the strap for a 940 in the faq shows the strap as running up the back side of the tank to bolt vertically to the understructure of the car. So the installation is easy: bolt up the front end, then do the back end. The bolt is long enough to get it started with ease. Tightening it up pulls the strap taut. The back setup on the 740 is different. The strap is shorter. But there is a L-bracket bolted to the understructure that runs down the side of the tank. At the end of that bracket is a horizontal bolt that faces rearward. Unless the L-bracket is loosened (ie lowered), there is no way to get the strap over that bolt when the front end of the strap is bolted. And there is no way to pull the strap forward with enough tension to bolt the front if the back is bolted first. Solution: lower the L-bracket first, bolt the front, bend the back end of the strap over the L-bracket bolt and tighten, then take up the slack by tightening (raising) the L-bracket. Harder to describe with no pic. And faster to do than to describe!"
