V70 D5 (2008 - 185hp) - Problems with high rpm after exchanging the cylinder-head
Postat: fre 13 mar 2020, 18:55
Hey Guys,
first - sorry for my bad english.
I'm writing from germany and hope, to find some help here.
In the german forums no one could help.
First so more informations from my Volvo:
Its a V70 (3rd Generation) from 04/2008
D5 with 185hp
122.000 kilometers (I've driven it for the last +-35.000 km)
Automatic
The drama startet with a torn driving belt of the climate-compressor.
It flew into the tooth-beld, which demolished the cylinder-head.
Found a good used head on ebay, which was reconditioned by an enginge-expert.
Swirl flaps, hydraulic ram etc. were completely replaced. (I hope google translates this correct...)
The engine runs very good as long as i drive relaxed in low rpm-range.
But there are some weird problems, when the engine runs in higher rpm-ranges.
When the automatic is in neutral and i rev up the engine until +-4000rpm the engine is stuttering as soon as i take the foot from the gas.
Then it takes 2 oder 3 seconds until its running normal in idle. Sounds like its only running on three cylinders.
A similar problem occurs sometimes, when i drive in a speed between 100 and 130 kmh.
When i want to accelerate on motorway for example to overhaul someone, the automatic switches down to 4th or 5th gear and the engine revs up until +-3500rpm. Then sometimes the engine does not accelerate anymore.
There is a stuttering, too. My mechanic says, it sounds like the engine has an rpm-limiter (like in older cars).
You can push the gas-pedal dpwn to the ground but the engine wont accelerate.
After i take the foot of the gas and the automatic is switching up and down, the engine runs complete normal.
So the problem is not always reconstructible.
Does anyone have an idea, what may be the problem?
The gas-filter is already replaced.
My mechanic has checked the engine-values while driving:
There just were some weird values from the swirl-flaps (which were replaced in the "new" cylinder-head).
The measured angle was totaly wrong (was 3 degree / should be 45 degree the computer said).
Another weird value was produced by the EGR-valve.
But this was cleaned, while the cylinder-head was removed and should work better than befor.
My mechanic says, that none of these wrong values does fit to the engine-problem named above.
So he is a little bit helpless.
I'm grateful for every advice!
Thanks & Best regards from Bielefeld/Germany
