Is the difference between the two engines physical? or is it just different ECU/software? 8) If you change the ECU, then what happens with the automatic transmission? :)

The Engines are identical, So yes, the ECU is the only thing that is different with the 140 and 170 hp versions of the V50.

But is there any difference on the automatic transmission?Or is it only the ECU on the engine that is differen? I have the 2.4 and would like to convert it to the 2.4i. :) do you know where to get that ECU and information?

BSR has the ECU upgrade, they can probably answer questions about whether the auto has to be updated or not.

EDIT: Oops, they only have upgrades for the T5 engine ... send them an e-mail and ask if they will have an ECU upgrade for the 2.4 engine, they should have one in the works. They have upgrades for the 2.4 in the S60/V70.

OK! I checked the bsr-site,and as you told,there were a 2.4 in the V70,but that one it stands,was 147hp and 210nm hmm? :???:

Jo, BSR har alltid bättre siffror på originaleffekten än vad Volvo anger. Man kan nog dra sina egna slutsatser om de uppmätta effekterna efter chippning också.

Jag betvivlar att man får ut 188 hk från en 170 hk sugmotor bara genom att chippa, men man kanske får ut 180 ... vilket är stor skillnad om du börjar med 140 hk-versionen. Skulle dock inte rekommendera att man chippar 170hk-motorn, det ger för lite för att motivera pengarna.
